Something I Forgot

Blue skies, scorching sun

Design District, lounges and clubs

Miami Ave, Biscayne..not far from the beach

I soak it up and allow it to take over me

Familiar faces, old routes I used to take

On the beach at night, falling asleep to the sound of the waves

It’s been a minute…

It’s been a minute since I’ve…

Felt like this.

I left this place before

Not knowing what I’d miss..

My friends, some family,

Good eats on the go

Enough sun to catch,

To give my skin the perfect glow

It fits like a glove…

And just when I was feeling like

I was dealing with a lot..

I made way back here

To remind myself of something I forgot.

I love to love. I love my friends

I love the beach, shopping til no end

Getting fly, quick bites

Planning for evening events

Going back to work, to do it all over again

My phone used to ring, always had something to do

I gave it all up at one time,

Not knowing what I’d lose

And now that I’m reminded,

Of the beauty life had brought me

The one thing I forgot,

Is something life taught me…

These waves are never ending,

Such As life’s trials and tribulations

We ride highs of waves,

But experience turbulent waters on occasion

But as long as we keep our eye on the shore

We can remember that there’s always peace,

In the eye of the storm…

Small things to enjoy,

That make it worth it to endure

The changes in life

That bring us closer to our core..

We just have to remember

Who we are, who we love

And all the things that we are not.

So these palm trees and nights on the beach

Remind me of something I forgot.
