Be Mindful

Be mindful, courteous

Beating hearts in every person you encounter

And even with divine purpose..

We are all capable…

Of hurting 

be mindful….

And think twice about selfish desires

Knowing the things you do and say

Can burn out the very things 

That set someone’s soul on fire. 

The beauty of life is to feel

But we steward that…

By having a moral compass

That drives our actions like google maps

And naturally, we become distracted

Selfish, manipulative in our nature

Deviating from our original condition

That God created us when

He made us in his image. 

So we do things to fulfill fleshly desires

And say things to give our egos power

And disregard how those very things

Weigh heavily on the hearts

Of other human beings

And we leave them torn, tainted,

Shaken in their faith and…

In need of reparation.

So for anyone who I’ve ever hurt 

Or scarred,

Just know I’m sorry 

It wasn’t with intent to leave the condition of your heart…

hardened

But more out of self preservation..

In a place where, 

everyone wants forbidden fruit

And we let our desires dictate 

Everything we do. 

Ultimately leading to decisions and

Shaping our fate…

Wishing there were things we could change

Or things we could do

And if I could…

I’d rewind time to when I was 19.

And likely,

Make different decisions

Understanding the importance of…

Our heart’s condition. 

I’d probably be writing poems

About life and, different trials

But for now, all I can do is 

Do better, be better,

Love God….and be mindful.
