Selling Dreams

They sell us dreams

To keep our eye off the prize

We focus on what we can see

Instead of what’s beyond the sky

We lust over the idea that

Love is all we got

And idolize people

Giving them equal stance to God

But you know what?

Polar extremities in life will tell a story

Victory is attached to loss, in all it’s glory

You boast and proclaim to be

This self made individual

Without acknowledging

Nothing’s possible if God didn’t give it to you

So I,

Sit and unwind, unpack what’s on my mind

The idea that control always leads to our demise

Making decisions without listening

To the directions that come from God

Leaving wounds you expect him to heal

And reminders from all the scars

It’s hard,

These acts we play, to play our part

Amplifying our position

We feel favor in our cards

But when the tables turn

And you get the hand you’re dealt

We seem to blame it on circumstance

Instead of blaming on ourselves

So embrace the shame,

And the guilt,

Everything you feel when you are down

Just know that everything you’re dealing with

Will make its way around

Because the cards you had when you were up

Just made its way around the table

And now that you’re feeling stuck

You ask God, if you are able

Can you heal me?

Can you take me?

Can you break me into pieces?

Can you remove the suffering I endure,

And provide me strength within my weakness?

Not knowing that his vision

Looks real different from what your dream is.

So please it’s…just a battle with those demons

And when you’re in pieces…

Just know you slept with the enemy

Who was..Selling dreams..
